Default how do I remove Armour-All from dash?

I bought a used F150 from a dealer that wiped down the dash with Armour-All. I actually like it and it looks fine, but I'm trying to put on a small adhesive holder for my phone or GPS unit, and the adhesive won't stick to the Armour-All coated surface. I just want to clean off a small area about the size of a quarter, but I don't want to damage the actual vinyl. What should I use?

Use a specially designed interior cleaner to wash it. Several companies make them. You should be able to find some at your local store.

I don't like Armor All at all, cheap products that ends up drying out the vinyl and discolouring it.

Note that you could also simply use dishwasher soap to remove the armor all on the area where you need to stick something...

I seriously doubt its armor all, as no one uses it anymore with all the good dressings out there. Use rubbing alcohol to remove it

I'll second the alcohol. (For the dash cleaning, I mean!)

I would test the rubbing alcohol in an inconspicuous area first. It could leave a dull spot if it reacts with the dye in the dash.

My best advice is to locate in a different area.

Science says your dash is likely a PVC product. Moderate dish soap/water 50/50 is your best friend. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat. Rinse. Rinse. Rinse.

In extreme situations, say for instance someone wrote on your dash with a marker, spot clean with water-diluted acetone. If you feel lucky, dilute PVC pipe dope cleaner.

Like the posts above. Alcohol. I use alcohol wipes all the time because random crap gets all over my dash, steering wheel, etc. Never had discoloring or damage whatsoever.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll try a little soap first, and then move to alcohol if needed. This forum is great!!

Appreciate the concern but it's not merited. I've been in plastic molding for over 30 years. We use isopropyl alcohol all the time to clean parts.

But it doesn't hurt to be careful!
