Searching the Alabama DMV, that license number is AVAILABLE. Should be able to search the closest states DMV as well. Good luck...

wtf thats my tag #, jk, but seriously, it is easy for someone to say that they got the wrong tag #! my neighbor hit my truck and the scratches lined up perfectly, and i mean down to a 1/16" of an inch and the cops said that there are no witnesses! so i was **** out of luck!

Wouldn't your insurance company persue this? Granted you have a deductable that will be your "out of pocket" expenses, but I'd contact them to see if they do this sort of thing (investigate the plate number).

Good luck, as I do know first hand how much it sucks to have a hit and run. In my case, someone slammed into the back end of our brand new 1984 Camaro the wife and I bought when we were first married. Based on the damage they did to our car, the police figured their front end was toast, as there was a trail (for about a half mile) of engine antifreeze and oil. The police lost the trail after that.
