I Voted For Bill and Opus
Now what you need to do, if you don't already have one, is a nice MIG welder. Nice thing about having a 400M is you can drop a nice 460 right in. LMC trucks has most all of the body panels you will need.

Paint it black
what we do in the aviation world is we take a diode and put it inline with our version of a alternator so you can only charge and not drain voltage via the alt

Buying F150
I to was a GM person. I really liked the look of the F150 redesigned in 04 it is a really sharp looking truck. I really do not buy new vehicles I look for good used vehicles. I bought a 05 F150 Super Crew 4X4 30K on it. I lost the transmission at 55K this was used as a family vehicle did not plow/tow or go off road with truck so buy the extended warranty with a used vehicle. Good Luck
