I have the Heated Mirror Option in my 2012 FX4 however im wondering...manual says they come on when the rear defroster activated but...

I dont want to use my rear defroster as Ive read on here about peoples window "imploding" so I have not used it incase...

can I turn on just the heated mirror Option any way without the rear defroster being on????

No. That's just how they work. I've not had an issue with my back window for five years. But I too have read where others have.

 

If you open the rear window even a little it will turn off the rear defogger. I do not know if it impacts the mirrors though. I suspect not but it might be worth a test!

I've had no issues with my rear window since new but also have read of others with issues.
