Hate on Ford
I never expected to want to buy a truck from any manufacturer but somehow I find the idea appealing now. I had no prior bias for liking any particular truck over another having driven BMW and Mercedes cars for years. The F150 seems more attractive in looks and I liked the inside of a 2011 Lariat I sat in - much nicer interior than the previous model. I wouldn't be seen dead in a Harley Davidson F150 because I like motorbikes (tee hee). When I hear the terms Duramax or Cummins it sounds like something I would buy out of a machine in the men's room if I got lucky in a bar - I have never heard of either engines but perhaps I should pay a visit to Chevy and Dodge to find out. Ecoboost has me interested at present.
I've had them all, dodge, Chevy, ford and Mazda. So never had any brand loyalty - until now. Was actually looking at getting another dodge when my brother in law, who sells Chevy, directed me to the f150 torture tests on YouTube. Fords suspension sold me on a new 2010 lariat. Driving about 40k a year, I began looking around to see what was available in the 2011s while my 2010 still looked like showroom condition and could get top dollar for it. Based partly on available options at the time since my lariat sold and was without wheels for three days, I decided on a King Ranch ecoboost with out even giving Dodge or Chevy a thought. How's that for brand loyalty now? Haha.
I will say, if I do get a 5.9, that will be a 3rd gen dodge owner since my grandfather and father both have Dodge's.
Well personally I am a AMC guy. Nothing like having the 3 major players all mixed in one fun mess.
I know a bunch of people hate on Ford though....kinda seems like a band wagon thing. I am not a fan of the 04-up SD trucks. Not that I dont like the styling I am just not a fan of the Ford Powerstroke engine. At work we have a F450 box truck on it's 3rd 6.0. Now I know you can bullet proof them but that isn't always great. Our newest motor came from Powerstrokehelp . Now it does run and pretty good, but we continue to have issues. Now I am a die hard 7.3 guy. I love those powerstrokes. My friend, Bryan, has a 97 2wd ext cab with 280,000 mile on it and its still going strong. That being said I drive a 04 Dodge 3500 5.9 HO 4x4. The only reason I ever went to cummins is that I couldnt find a powerstroke here locally that wasnt over priced or ragged completely out.
I find something I love in almost every vehicle. Currently the complete list of vehicles @ my house are:
1977 F150 XLT 4x4 (351C)
2004 Dodge 3500 4x4 (5.9)
1977 Jeep J20 4x4 (401)
1976 Jeep Cherokee Chief (360 now but going to a GM 6.0)
1989 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 (4.0)
2010 Nissan Rogue
2004 Ford Focus SVT
1997 Jeep Cherokee (4.0 HO but getting a 305)
1989 Ford Ranger (2.9)
I have had several chevy s-10's and a Z71...so I cant claim to be totally brand loyal to anything.

What does Mercedes call the V8 in my 2007 SL550? It runs as smooth as a Swiss watch while moving 2 tons from 0-60 in a little over 5 seconds. Maybe they have a German name for it that German owners swap about while telling their stories.

Which is kinda funny. I have no brand loyalty when it comes to vehicles. Except for Subaru. No car beats a Subaru. I had a 95 GMC 1500, that never gave me too many problems. Now that I'm back in the truck market, I drove Titans, Sierras, Silverados, F150s, Tundras, and Rams. I chose the F150 because I love the size, and how it drives. Now, I just have to find the perfect one....

I've always been a ford guy but I did like the looks of the Sierra until I saw the interior. That and the Silverado have got to be the ugliest interior I've ever seen IMO.It looks like something out of an old Buick .
I had been strongly loyal to chevy all my life until I bought my 2010 King Ranch 4x4 in Feb of 2010. Traded in an 08 Chevy Z71 crew cab LTZ which I really loved. I still like GM so I wont bash them (still own a 09 Yukon Denali for the wife and love the interior). But I hands down like my F150 more than Ive ever liked any vehicle. It just feels like a truck should feel and looks damn good.
