Gearing vs programmer
Yes I do have documentation. ...Ford voids warranty with a tune. It is because it places more stress on the drivetrain. If it did not, why would Ford not get in the act and offer Genuine Ford Authorized Tuners? Are you claiming Ford is ignorant or unknowledgeable about their own products?
If you plan on keeping your truck for 250,000 miles plus, why in the world would you add a tune? More power from the same engine is more stress on the components. Period.
Yes, there is a margin for safety in factory settings. Do as you please with your truck, but not abusing a truck is why one like my '93 in the driveway gets 225,000 miles on it with only good maintenance.

Look into some of your drive train components. The 6R80 is rated for 600 lb-ft of torque, much more than a stock truck puts out.
OP, your warranty is void with the lift anyway, I would try a programmer, just improving the shifting will make a world of difference. Also as stated, lock out 5 and 6th when towing.
I have a 24' pontoon I tow up and down mountains. I went with a Jet chip and a gear swap. That gear swap was $2k, but it's the best money I've spent on the whole truck yet!!!

They void the warranty because they have no control over what the tune is doing. There is a massive difference between tuners and tunes that are available. It's a blanket statement that covers FoMoCo's butt.

The custom tune can be abused just like anything else but the margin between safe stock and safe custom is H U G E!!! I'm not saying to run wide open throttle all day every weekend at the track, for just normally spirited driving, towing, etc... there is no way in hell your ever going to stress any part of the drivetrain and I can also say with absolute certainty my truck, if I own it that long will go 3-400,000 miles easy with simple basic maintenance and custom tuned.

I've been to my dealer multiple times and the tune has not been an issue. Most recently about a month ago and they never even asked if I had one. This was work that involved them taking the engine apart.
