im curious... i got a 2002 xl and i got 2 questions about gauges... does the odometer store in the computer or is it in the cluster its stored and 2nd will a cluster with a tach work with my truck just a plug in and its all set..? i just want to be able to put new cluster in soo i have a factory tach. the odometer doesnt really bother me just sumthing i wanted to ask about.

all insight is greatly apprciated!!!

Hey again, pretty sure the odometer is stored in the cluster.

Unfortunately you wont be able to plug and play the gauge cluster because of the PATS system, you could buy another one, but you would need to get it programmed by the dealer. Or you could get the whole PATS system from a truck at the junkyard, but then you would need to find the coded keys to match .

okay sooo i need a 100% answer on this... my xl truck... can i just plug in a xlt cluster with the tach or does it now work.. the mileage im not to worried about... that is nothing but im need to know haha

Nope, wont work. It won't even run because it won't jive with the rest of the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System).

Yeah, no problem. I needed lots of reassurance before finally deciding to gut my cats. I haven't done it yet, but as soon as its warmer out I will.

yeah let me know how that goes im curious... the one problem i have with my cats.. is on the driver side one of them fell apart internally... idk which one.... lol
