Default FX4 or 4X4

I have a 2002 SC 5.4L 4x4.

Is this considered the FX4 or just a 4X4? Also what is the difference if any between these. thanks, just wondering because I dont know.

It will say on the rear quarterpanels whether it is an FX4 or a 4x4. I'm honestly not too sure of the differences between the 2.

Thats what I thought too. But thats why I am asking because it has nothing on it. When ever I see a 4X4 it has it on the back panels and if it dont its a 2wd obviously.

IIRC, the FX4 is marketed as OffRoad - supposedly has a different type of shock as well as skid plates.

The FX4 model has a few extra features that do not come on the 4x4 models....along with a slightly different suspension. The FX4 has slightly stiffer suspension and different shocks (Rancho Off Road Shocks). Seems like I am leaving something out....

Skid plates....thats what i was forgetting.

Yep it's what ever trim package plus it 4wd. On the pre-2002s, the 4x4 OFF ROAD package was what became the FX4s in 02 forward.

yes it has rancho shocks along with skid plates. So if its an FX4 why are there not labels on it though. I guess the person before me didnt want them on there. I checked an their is no evidence a label was ever on it.

The wheels on the red F150 are stock FX4 wheels, I think it also came stock with a limited slip rear. Mine had one.
