GM technical sales and engineering people will always try to use the veil of "simpler design" and "proven technologies" as excuses for flawed engineering techniques, cost cutting measures to maximise profits at the expensive of quality control (even safety at times), and in my opinion simple lackluster R&D. The irony is, this is what gets companies in the kind of crap GM and Chrysler are in right now in the first place.

Wonder if they added limp mode to the new trucks?? Seriously, as some have mentioned earlier, lets give the trucks a chance to see what they'll do before we trash them. I would've never guessed I would've had an ecoboost to fail me the way mine did. I'm thrilled with the f150 that replaced it but that one was a bad one. It can happen to all the companies...
Limp mode is limp mode. When you're talking about random electrical shortage related fire that burned half your engine down 5 feet away from your house, that's more reason to not go near that company again. The new trucks are vanilla at best. Even though the 12th gen Fords are getting up there in age, GM has barely caught up with the pack. I'd buy a car from GM (The new Caddy ATS is sex on wheels) but they would have to do some serious R&D to make me consider one of their trucks again.
GM also didn't give a crap about the fire either. They told me that my insurance will take care of it and hung up on me.

They added the spontaneous electrical fire feature to my Chev.

I was lucky to have had good luck with the ones that I've owned and never had to deal with GM/Obama corporate. But my experience with Ford, from customer care to field engineers was less than stellar as well. My previous posts are there to read about that nightmare. Unfortunately, that's the new age corporate America. Pass the buck and hope folks won't care enough to keep fighting. You did the best thing, the only thing that will ever garner attention from a big company. Take revenue away. If enough people ever do that then it gets attention. Outside of that, they won't care
Either way, I'm glad I drive a vehicle that has less issues than my silverado did, and it's by no means a perfect truck, but it hasn't left me stranded like the Chev did multiple times. My family used to be all GM but has slowly knocked off our GM's. Some had issues, some did not. Luck of the draw as far as reliability goes I guess, but the customer service rep hanging up on me pretty much made my decision for me.

I'm not thrilled with ford's customer service either, though. But I don't think any big corp like Ford, GM or Chrysler is going to give me family-owned and operated style customer service with open arms. But you'd think a company would be more professional than to hang up on me. Best thing I thought I could do was get some awareness out there. The media is the most powerful form of spreading information. It's at the point where companies & corporations have to be careful how they act, because one little slip-up can bite them in the ***. Like the test driver in the '15 F150 mule flipping off the photographer.

I think gm designed a very good looking truck even though they tried to design it like Fords f-150 now would it rival the F 150 idk. Am I interested.. maybe for a test drive but that's about it i don't think they can match ford in comfort and overall truck duty(towing, hauling, ect) but i think they're taking a step in the right direction even though the way they design there truck looks like a ford almost with a bow tie. I LIKE TRUCKS
Very well said. All these trucks a pretty much the same. Tow about the same, ride about the same, get stuck in the Same places. I like ford because of the looks, none bail out, and I've been raised with fords. I will hopefully drive a ford truck the rest of my life.
