Default Friend got a 2014 gmc 1500

My friend just sold her 2011 ecoboost and got a 2014 Texas edition Sierra. Some cool things on the truck are the little steps made into the bumper, the led bed lights, and the stock navigation/ head unit thing is pretty sweet, I've never seen one on a platinum or fx4 so I can't relate, but it was pretty nice. It has that ecotech 5.3 and she said it wasn't near as fast and when she took off it sounded like a electric vacuum haha. And the hids look pretty decent too, I really was not too impressed with those minor things that could be easily added so I don't think it will win truck of the year, and the idea of a gas cap sounds super annoying after not having one ha. F150 FTW

I'll stick with my Ecoboost until Ford comes out with something new.
The engine is not necessarily at fault, its just as important to have a auto transmission that can put the power through.

I don't get why everyone always immediately bashes other manufactures. Ford, and in particular the f150 isn't perfect either.

Poor thing. That's too bad. GM didn't even show up to the 4x4 shootout by pickuptrucks.com

Oh well, there's a butt for every saddle, and SOMEbody has to drive the GMs. Just glad it's not me

The new GM's are the same old **** as the last ones. Never again will I go back. Any reason why she made the change?

The projector headlights aren't even HID either. I was talking to one of the GM rep's at the autoshow (it turned into an argument, actually) and he said that the 5.3L is a direct competitor to the Ecoboost. I said "No, the power doesn't even come close. It's a 5.0 competitor" and he said "Well yeah, but the MPG is better and that's what people want in a truck". Not me. As far as I'm concerned, the last time I towed with a 5.3L I'm pretty sure I knocked 10,000 miles off the life of that motor. It had to work SO hard to tow 5500 lbs.

I'll stick with my Ecoboost until Ford comes out with something new.

THe new Silverado's are "ok", but GM missesd a few major issues when designing an "all new truck". From a small diesel like many want, to rear leg room, to higher quality interior pieces.
Like stated above, it's funny/sad that the first thing others do is act like 5 year olds and bash other manufacturers because "my truck is so much better than the rest. Opinions are like as$holes, everyone have one, and sometimes they stink.

I miss a lot of things from my Silverado, especially the seats. Most comfortable thing i've ever sat in, if i could trade someone a silverado seat i would (but i LOVE my heated and cooled seats).

I found my dads 07 seats to be rather uncomfortable really... Prolly more comfy then my old 08 but my 13 is way more comfy .... There wasn't much I liked bout the Chevy compared to my f150... Doesn't help that my wife's Chevy cruze and both my dads last Chevys and majority of my friends Chevys are all troublesome... Ill keep my fords

The funny thing about truck owners is there loyal to there brand. A Chevy buyer doesn't look at the Chevy as a Ford guy would and vice versa. Ram, well there the third or fourth choice (Toyota). The manufacturer with the most to lose is FORD. There the top seller and the only way to go is down. Chevy is catering to there loyal buyer just like Ford. What I cant understand with Chevy/Ram is they never focus on the safety of there vehicles (crash/roof test) and yet the Chevy buyer seems to keep coming back. I guess there the ones that never got in an accident. I think the game changing year is 2015 for FORD. If they put out the Atlas and it is a real winner, then look out, I see larger market share coming!!

I liked my 2010 GMC Sierra SLT until in started going through 3 quarts of oil every 2000 miles. GM knew the cylinder deactivation was the problem, and there are countless cases out there of the 5.3 doing this...yet I had to prove to them that there was a problem by doing an oil consumption test. Since I was running Mobil1 I had to provide the oil. Sold that truck as soon as I heard those words.

So far I am liking my 2013 FX4 Eco. Towed a bass boat that was total about 4500 pounds and got 15.7mpg average for 320 miles non-stop. 3.55 gears and it only dropped out of overdrive 3 times on some steep hills.

I do love my F150 but I do like all trucks I prefer ford though. I am really liking the new dodge's to but man that 2014 silverado the front end is just down right ugly and interior isn't that great looking either.

angleiron, please share how you got 15mpg's towing a bass boat..I got a MaxTow EB and I tow a 21ft bass boat and only got 10.5mpg on a 2.5hr trip each way, not to many large hills to climb, mainly highway driving. I know I got 3.73 gears but your getting 15 to my 10..please share!
