My old truck has horrible traction but as for new trucks I've seen tests that show they have the best traction out of the competition.

Just a fun video, not to prove anything.

You probably dont have LS, and you probably have crappy highway tires.

Jack the back end of the truck up off the ground and spin one tire, if the other side spins the same direction you have LS, if it spins the opposite direction, you dont...

How typical.....A Ford pulling out a jeep and a chevy......That's a great video!

As to the OP. Well I got stuck in my own dirt driveway (on my way to a date) one time when it was raining and I pulled over to let a neighbor go by. I had a 2wd ranger. The very next day I traded it in for a 4x4 ranger and told myself that I'd never buy a 2wd again. 2wd trucks are meant for staying on the pavement unless you're going pre-runner style. Pre-runners are bad ***! The thing about a 2wd is keeping momentum at all times when off road. Basically drop the hammer on the throttle and keep her there.

Another thing is when you're about to get stuck turn your wheel sharp and quickly from side to side, and it will shift traction from wheel to wheel, and usually keeps you moving forward. It's gotten me out of some sticky situations.

I know you already said it, but you gotta get 4x4.. I was down at the river bed today and went to turn around and dug into the sand up to my axle. Put it in 4lo and got out with ease..

get a few hundred pounds of sand and a locker with some decent tires..

its not as financially easy to just go out and buy a new truck.
