Default Flowmaster VS. Magnaflow

I'm looking to get a new dual exhaust system installed in my truck. I have looked at all the youtube videos but it is hard to tell what they ACTUALLY sound like through the computer. I have heard many good things about flowmaster as well as magnaflow. I dont want something that is going to be too obnoxiously loud, but something that is going to make people turn for a second look when I drive by (sorry if this is a bad example.) Not something too quiet, but not too loud. I have heard that magnaflows wear out faster and they are also more expensive most of the time for the whole system. Any imput on what yall think would sound better on my 2010 Lariat 4x4 would be much appreciated. Also I have heard the the bigger the tips the louder it will be. Is this true? Thanks

Don't buy a whole kit. Get the muffler of your choice and have a shop fab it up for you. Magnaflows will last longer than an aluminized Flowmaster. Flows do have their stainless versions of the mufflers too though. There is no "wearing" out of a muffler, rusting out yes. Better sound will be the Magnaflow. Your truck already has a straight through "hybrid" muffler, no sense in taking a step back for a worse sound.
Bigger tips will make a little difference in volume but not much. There's only so much megaphone effect it can have if the muffler is eliminating the resonance. I'd suggest a 14" Magnaflow, good tone and just enough punch to hear it but not over bearing.

I have Flowmaster's Force 2 kit, which uses their 50 series muffler. I get the perfect rumble and some looks too. Not too loud in the cab either.

Straight, I only have experience with the Magnaflow. I had their stainless version installed on my '04 Lightning. The muffler had the perfect sound with no drone in the cabin when first installed. But, I must say that after approx. 2 yrs. the muffler had became louder (still no drone in the cabin). The sound at throttle was too loud, and had a lot of pop as speed increased. The best way to describe it if you have ever heard the old style Thrush mufflers. Strange as it is the muffler at crusing speed, and deceleration was sweet. Keep in mind this was on a S/C 5.4. That may make a difference, but I doubt it. Good luck on your choice.

Thanks fellas I appreciate it. This decision would be a lot easier if I was just looking for the muffler but I love the look of straight pipes. My buddy just got a force 2 in his land cruiser and it sounds awesome, but again I like the dual pipes. I will let yall know what I finally decide.

im gonna chime in and say flowmaster! i had the same debate, but if you really want to turn heads im gonna say flow. i give my respect to magna tho, they sound good but its a low rumble that doesnt really get attention. i would stay away from super 44, and go 50 series be all the noise you need but not stupid. if you want louder i say 40.

I'm having trouble deciding where to exit the pipes. I'm 50-50 out the back or sides?
