Default Fixing broken plastic.

I am assuming this is hail damage. The black plastic "ring" that circles the rear window has a small piece, about 2in long by 3/4in wide, that broke out but I still have the piece.

I am wondering if anyone has any experience repairing plastic like this, or if anyone else has had this happen.

No camera right now or I would post a pic.

Thanks in advance.

I would have to see a pic to give an accurate description of what you could do, if I could even come up with an idea. Without a pic all I can say is that plastic is the most difficult thing to glue. Most glues don't work including super glue, but there is a special plastic super glue you can try.

Ok so here are some pics of the crack and hail damage.

The cracked piece of plastic is only held in because it's stuck in the rear window seal. If anyone has had this and fixed it or has fixed something similar any insight would be great. I threw in the pic of all the hail dings for good measure, the hood looks the same.

gotta love tornado alley..lol

If you can find something similar in color to sacrifice you can sometimes use it like a welding rod with a soldering iron.. we used to do this with dirt bike fenders...

Modeling glue made for plastic models should work well - it will take 24hrs to become structurally sound once you glue the pieces together.

You can also get plastic model filler putty to fill in holes in plastic - but the filler is not good for structural strength such as gluing parts together...just for cosmetic appearance.

Damn, sometimes a little common sense goes a long way. I have model glue in my garage not five feet from my truck and I never thought about using it. Thanks a-ton. But I do feel a little but like an idiot right now. Oh well, I'll get over it and I won't have to worry about water getting around the third brake light anymore.

If the model-glue doesn't work I have the insta fix for you..Go to your local wal-mart or auto store and pick up a tube of J.B. Weld, cost maybe $8 or less and its basically cement AND it's black in color.
