True. But he's pulling almost 7,000# if you include the trailer weight. I guess one day I will have to do a comparison pull/run with my 2013 Limited against my 2001 F150 Supercrew (5.4L) 4x4. The 5.4L got poor ratings that year for being wimpy. I never had any issues with towing 7,000# with that truck. I have yet to hook up the trailer to my Limited. The new 5.0L gets rave reviews. I would like to know how it stacks up to my 01?

Uh, that trailer is lucky to be 1500#.
My guess would be that the 5.0 pulls much the same as the 5.4? More or less!

5.4 2V will be different than the 5.4 3V which will also be different than the 5.4 3V with the 6 speed. In order of best towing "should" be ecoboost, 6.2, 09-10 5.4 3V, 5.0, 5.4 3V and finally 5.4 2V.

Yea, I forgot about the valve progression on the 5.4, that will make some difference.
Don't say the "E" word in this thread, because you know where that will lead?

If I left it out I would have the same problem

I am curious to know what difference the 3.73 will make for light to medium duty towing over the 3.55 on the 5.0. Anyone have anything? (I saw an EB for sale last night with the 3.73 and thought that would be pretty spectacular). I ordered a 3.73 on my 5.0 for lower end grunt under light acceleration, not towing... but i would expect a difference in the latter department also.

FR

Taken two mornings ago in the dealers lot, at sunrise.

Just going by the data given by the OP!

2 x 2 tons = 4000 pounds
20' Texas Brag = 2920 pounds (according to manufacture)

I have two trailers and one of them looks like the one the OP shows in his picture. I don't remember the exact weight of mine, but I will have it weighed the next time I go to the dump.

The new 5.0 looks like it is going to be king of the small eights. It definitely has more manufacturer listed torque and HP than what was listed for my 5.4.

I guess it would depend on tire diameter as well. If the tire diameter is smaller on the 3.55 it could have the same effective torque as a 3.73 with larger tires. Same tire size the 3.73 will transfer more torque. The Limited has 22s with low profile tires. I'm guessing the 3.55s are running 18 or 20 inch wheels with larger tires?

Just going to throw this out there. Peak numbers are nice and all but it also depends on where those numbers are made.

True that! People tend to forget that important detail!
