Default Failed Inspection

Today I failed NJ inspection for my 02 F150 V6.

i failed for my check engine lights/emissions. I got the codes

p1131---Lack of Downstream Heat oxygen sensor switch

p1151---Lack of upstream Heat oxygen sensor switch

p0171---System To lean bank 1

p0174---System to lean bank 2

My guess I need to replace both oxygen sensors. However i also read when searching this forum that cleaning the MAF helps. Any other tips or ideas before i go buy the sensors?

hahahaha inspections good luck with that crap...lol

anyway cleaning the MAF is good. the other day i done my truck, my grandpas truck and the escort we have and they seem to run better. as fars as o2 sensors i dont really know anything about other than the fact that if they go bad they could cause you to get bad gas mileage.

hopefully someone else will jump in and help

good luck

If you've got 100k miles, you might as well replace em, but I see you've got the 4.2, I'd check for intake gasket/isolator leaks, that could very well be your problem, given you've got lean codes for both banks. It's possible it could be the MAF sensor, could be exhaust leaks, could be a fuel pressure problem, but what I've seen the most is vacuum leaks either from a large line or from the intake, on the 4.2.

Default O2 Sensor

It Was A Fact That Was Told To Be A Long Time Ago When I Worked Parts Places... If You Change The O2 Sensor When You Change Pulgs.. Or Atleast Every Other Time, You Will Save Over 100 A Year In Gas... So In The Long Run They Pay For Themselves
