Expensive Ford Warranty Doesn't Cover ANYTHING from 3-5 years? Seriously?

Rnlcomp: Ya made me laugh but yeah, of course I looked through things as best I could in a reasonable amount of time. Looked decent. I guess I should have taken that little ol' TEN page document of fine print and covered it over and over again 'till I understood every phrase. I'm a pretty good speed reader though and thought I had it covered as best as possible. Kinda like buying a house -- you sign so many documents that I'm not sure that most people read and absorb EVERY word? Especially that stuff written with a strong legal component? IDK, maybe.
Anyhow, I'm home again now so was able to grab the doc. Going back over it now, I think maybe the tech just didn't know what he was talking about. I found this phrase pretty quick: "When coverage begins and ends: For New Plan Agreements, Coverage begins at the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Start Date and Zero miles or Hours. ..." That certainly implies that anything not covered by the Basic Warranty (such as a loaner car, in this case) would be covered immediately.
Anyway, sorry to say ANYTHING negative about Ford here -- that seems to upset folks mightily!

Nope, only the ESP covers loaner or rental and that don't kick in until base warranty runs out, Ford will fix the vehicle for free but that's it. If you buy a new (insert any product here) and it fails under warranty you still have to send it in on your dime, if your toaster breaks under warranty do you get a loaner so you can toast your bread?
Like I said, common sense goes a long way.

I'm confused! I thought the PREMIUM CARE ESP, a rental was covered if the dealer had to keep your car overnight to make a repair.
I had the $35 first day option added, which covers a rental from the moment you drop your truck/car off.
So, this is not applicable during the 3/36 warranty?
Under the Premium Care ESP, We will reimburse You for the actual charges up to $30 per day (including
tax) on Ford, Mercury and Competitive Make vehicles and $45 per day (including
tax) on Lincoln vehicles that You incur to rent a motor vehicle for up to (3) days
while Your Vehicle is being repaired provided, however: (i) the service or repair is:
(1) covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or (2) the result of a
manufacturer's recall or customer satisfaction program and (ii) the vehicle must be
rented from a Ford or Lincoln dealership or other commercial agency that rents or
leases motor vehicles as its principal business. RentalCARE coverage will begin
when You deliver the Vehicle to the Selling Dealer or other dealer that has a
franchise from an original equipment manufacturer. To determine the (3) day
coverage period, the first day of coverage is the day after You deliver Your Vehicle
for repair or service. If You elected RentalCARE Coverage with a plan term that
exceeds 3 years or 36 months from the bumper to bumper New Vehicle Limited
Warranty, You will receive component coverage only under our PremiumCARE plan
upon expiration of the earlier of 3 years or 36 months from the bumper to bumper
New Vehicle Limited Warranty, for the additional plan term You selected.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6D. FIRST DAY RENTAL OPTION - If Your Vehicle is a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury
Vehicle, You received First Day Rental with Your NEW OR USED CORE
COVERAGES, LEASECARE COVERAGES, COMPONENT WRAP (NON-CPO)
COVERAGES, OR CPO UPGRADE COVERAGE, We will reimburse You for vehicle
rental charges You actually incur up to $30 per day (including tax) for Ford, Mercury
and Competitive Make Vehicles and $45 per day (including tax) for Lincoln vehicles
for up to 10 days or until the repair is complete, whichever occurs first. Rental Car
Reimbursement starts when the Vehicle is delivered to the Selling Dealer or other
Ford Motor Company franchised dealer for service. We will not reimburse You for
any vehicle rental charge(s) incurred before the Signature Date of this Agreement
or upon completion of Your repair.

OK ... so, if I'm understanding the OP's first post ... it sounds to me like what he's saying is this:
he's got the factory 3yr/36Kmiles factory warranty ... and the 5yrs/60K miles powertrain warranty (both of which we all have) ... and the corrosion warranty too ... again, all standard that we all get ...
THEN, he purchased the 8yr/100K extended warranty, right?
so, again, if I'm getting this right ... what he's saying is this: If there is something that is covered in the 3/36 warranty, but that's not covered in the 5/60 powertrain ... and it breaks between year 3 and 5 ... the extended warranty does NOT cover it until AFTER the start of year 5 ...
Another way to say it is ... the OP was/is under the impression that the 8/100 warranty SHOULD cover everything that's covered in the standard warranties, to make ALL of them extend out to 8/100 ...
BUT ... what he thinks he's been told is that the extended warranty is really only a 3 year warranty that does NOT start at all until year 5 ...
So ... am I understanding this right?

ESP warranty start date and mileage = the day you bought the truck. If you buy an 80k esp the warranty for the powertrain is extended 30k miles beyond the original 50k for a total of 80k
Same thing for the time allotment.

No, Wiggum, since the original post I was able to retrieve the warranty doc and now think that the tech just didn't know what he was talking about. This quote is from that doc:
"When coverage begins and ends: For New Plan Agreements, Coverage begins at the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Start Date and Zero miles or Hours. ..." That certainly implies that anything not covered by the Basic Warranty (such as a loaner car, in this case) would be covered immediately by the extended warranty.

All dealerships are independent entities, some may offer a loaner for a customer if they have the means, Ford does not pay for it.

Maybe? What's the rest of it? That may refer to when to start counting the 100,000 and 8 years or whatever it was. If you do 100,000 in 3 years you get nothing. 8 years and a day with 400 miles and you get nothing.

1) Don't ask technicians to interpret legal documents.
2) Read everything before you sign anything.
3) If you insist on buyIng an extended warranty, shop the several online dealers whose prices are well below most other dealers. Cancel what you bought, get your refund, and buy elsewhere.

the topic has been beaten in the ground in several threads already (and for years).
I never get the extended warranties.
