Default Engine Shudder

Recently while my truck (2005 F150 Lariat 5.4L v8) is sitting in park with the engine on....it will have random little shudder motions. I can't tell if it's just the exhaust (dual magnaflow) or if its the engine. But ill be sitting there and feel a little kick. Nothing strong but def. something like the engine skipping for a quick second. Not sure if thats normal. what do you guys think?

Mine has done this several times but has recently stopped. I was sitting at a redlight and I heard it. It scared me at first and I popped the hood when I got home and checked everything and it seemed fine. It hasn't done it since and it runs great so I didn't think it was anything major. I have however been monitoring it.

How many miles does your truck have on it?? Mine is just under 40K.

Mine has it too. I think it's pretty normal with the 5.4L. I have 44K on my 05.

Just don't confuse a little engine shudder with a misfire. You can tell the difference, trust me, when mine has injector #6 giving me a problem it was like the engine was trying to stall. When I gave it gas if ran really rough and would backfire too. In my case I had no SES light so it took me two trips to the dealer to get them to find it doing it.

Yeah mine was nothing real real loud and it didn't sound like a bad injector. Just a little shudder and then it stopped. I'm keeping an ear out for it but I hope it doesn't do it anymore.

a dealer item called DPFE switch $75.00 fixed my shudder. it took five min to replace with a pocket Knife. It has something to do with to lean/rich weird, but it fixed it.

My has a random skip at idle. Its done it since I bought the truck with 65,500 miles on it and now with almost 185,000 miles on it the truck still does it.
If mine hasnt blown up (yet, knock on wood), I dont think you have anything to worry about.
You have the 3-valve engine, so you dont have to worry about it being a sparkplug that is getting ready to blow out.

That's an understatement

My '05 does it, too. Once when I started it, it ran like sh*t and felt like the engine wanted to jump out of it. After I shut it off and restarted it, it was fine- albeit still with the sputter.

My 05 does it too, once in a blue moon. 25k miles on the 5.4
