I was told years ago by my Friend at Ford here in Ottawa, that you never bring your truck back to the dealer you bought it from for warranty work, as they are on the hook for the costs, another dealer charges the warranty work to the selling dealer so they would be more willing to do the extra.

Glad you got this taken care of.

Well, like a member said, all underneath wiring/sensors are very well sealed as they’re exposed to the elements. Even if Krown sprayed at areas they should not, I’m far from convinced that oil could cause a problem.

I rustproof my 2019 F150 by myself, twice a year, And spray above the fuel tank to reach hidden body surface. Never had an issue.

Glad your issue is resolved though.

Did I read that correctly, you are spraying the body?

Frame (steel) and body (alloy) yes, since alloy can oxydize over time as well

Really it shouldn't matter what dealer you go to for warranty work as Ford is the one who pays the dealer for warranty work, although usually at a much lower rate than what the dealer charges for other repairs/services. There are dealers who hate warranty work because of the lower reimbursement rate from Ford, and dealers who have figured out how to make the most of warranty work and seek it out as it adds to their bottom line. Finding a dealer that you trust on the service side can be hard, but if you can find one, I personally like doing all my business with the same dealer, that way you can work both sides when needing help, ie. making sure the sales side knows that you will not be going back to them if you have service issues and vice versa.

The only time a dealer will be charged back for a repear is if they do a repair under warranty and then another dealer has to redo the repair. You’re likely to be treated better at the dealer you bought the truck from as they made money from the sale. That’s why they usually ask if you bought the vehicle from them.

Calls me 2 days later to tell me my truck is ready for pick up, front end work complete and they replaced the FTP sensor.....WHAT?!?! You replaced it. He says "yup, dropped the tank, sensor had no oil spray on it so we replaced it at no charge." THEN asks if they can keep it one more day to do a full cleaning inside and out. Pick it up the next day and she's beautiful, running smoothly, starting normally, engine light is cleared AND she's detailed inside and out. Hands me my keys and says have a great day. I literally almost cried (what a baby I know). This dealership took away months of headaches without pause! Thanks to all those who commented! If you are in the Ottawa area and want quality service- hit LINCOLN HEIGHTS FORD up. Also AVOID KANATA FORD!
Ya I've heard some not so great things about Kanata Ford as well.

I had the same problem on my 2018 f150 lariat, a few days after krowns rust check, engine light came on. Thankfully I have friends at ford, friends with auto shops, plus I'm very knowledgeable about cars and electronics, to make a long story short, we dropped the tank down far enough to remove the sensor, it didn't look like it was covered in oil, but because I couldn't get a sensor for 2 days, I decided to spray it with brake clean, and boom, it worked again.
both times I had to do it.
