Default Elec. Locking Rear Diff. question

Been out of the truck buying loop for about 10 years. My current 2005 F-150 has a 3.55 Limited Slip Differential that I love up here in Northern Ohio road salt season. I am planning on getting a new 2015 F150 next spring and in looking thru the ordering PDF's that have been linked here I don't see a Limited Slip Diff. (but I could easily be missing something). What I do see is something called an "Electronic Locking Differential".
What is the difference between the two and how does the Electronic work? Do I have to use a switch on the dash?

yes the e-locker you pull out on the 4wd selector and it locks the rear wheels together so they are both spinning the same speed...helps in snow and other low traction situations in addition to the 4wd...however you dont want to use it on dry pavement

when the e-locker isnt being used its a straight open diff

If you're asking about the electronic rear diff, yea you can get it in a 4x2. That's what I currently have is a 4x2, with 3.55 electronic diff.

I wish I was able to use it in 2wd like all the newer trucks. My allows it in 4wd only.

Thanks all, some useful info here.
But I still don't understand why Ford dropped the Limited Slip or did I just miss it in the ordering PDF's

Jim, you are not wrong. You can only order an open or e-locker only on 2015's.
