I know that all my Fords have always been reliable and taken me and my family many thousand miles well north of 100K on the odometer. I'm not very confidant in any of the modern technology because of all the over-engineering. It's a wonder we are all still alive growing up without lights and buzzers telling us another vehicle is passing by, or actually having to park the car ourselves...and we all need more self driving cars so we can spend more time looking at the phone...

In any case, I may consider an EB truck after all the positive feedback from you all.

Thanks again and keep it between the ditches!
You did nothing wrong. You just got a lot of feminine energy in the country and the internet here in 2024, and people get their feelings hurt, and we can't have that, so we'll edit chit, and we'll own a non-truth. That's pretty much what's taking place here.

Here's my advice. Not being an A-hole, but your a grown man looking to make an expensive purchase. Go drive both, and buy the one that you like better. Both 3.5L and 5L are good engines, and some prefer EB, and some prefer Coyote. Neither of mine has been a problem for me. My opinion is if you're Spock, buy the EB. If you're Kirk, buy the Coyote.

Seriously, enough.

You added your opinion on the 5.0, another added theirs on the EB. You’re not helping the OP in anyway.

Why don't you worry about yourself unless you just want to argue.?.? If I think it's enough, then I would not post. I added my opinion about both the 2 best engines in the 1/2 ton segment, the 3.5L and the 5L. (See how off-putting that sounded 2.7L guys? Y'all like to make this claim about your engine all the time when it's actually the base engine, but your spelling's off. Base, not best.) You're claim is you went with the Yote because you want a less complex engine, and you pretty much let it be known that you did so out of ignorance, yet you want to pretend that you're opinion is relevant, when your understanding is low? If we're going to make false claims about Coyote then I will defend it, the same I do for LS/LT, and the same I do for EB. (Yes I actually went to bat for the 3.5L in the YT comments the other day against some Coyote fanboy speaking fallacies against the EB)

The reality is there is no best engine for everyone in F150. If you want a good, reliable, strong little engine to get good MPG's and mod fairly decently, be a good DD choice, and don't need to tow over 9K lbs then 2.7L is a great option. Your GEN2 2.7L seems to have fixed most of the GEN1's problem area's. If better towing, and better mod potential than 2.7L are prioritizes to you then the 3.5L is a great little engine, but you're not going to get as good a MPG with the bigger EB, and when comparing GEN2 EB engines, the 2.7L seems to have had less issues than the 3.5L. GEN3 3.5L supposedly fixed most of it's issues. If you require a V8 to lay down your hard earned $, and especially one with a lot of personality once you tune it to spin past 7K RPM go with with the Coyote. It's an extremely strong 5L N/A engine. It's mod potential is the best of any engine in the 1/2 ton segment, but it won't give you quite the gains as EB with just basic mods and a tune. Still for a N/A 5L engine it mods extremely well. It's MPG's are lacking compared to my EB truck, as is it's refinement, (60* V6's tend to be very smooth operators) and if you want it to perform N/A you need to let it spin, but even if you want your EB to perform at its best you're going to do so at WOT, and not try and get it to short shift or something. 5L is plenty quick enough around town without having to feel like you're beating on it. Plus I think the 5L tows fine, but I'm not going to try claiming it's a better towing choice than a 3.5L. None are really bad engines, but one may be a better choice for any given person than another.

IMO if you keep up with the maintenance you're more than likely going to get good, mostly trouble free service from any of these engines. My 5L has no noticeable oil burnoff, and my GEN2 3.5L is still on the OEM cam phasers, and they seem to be working like they're supposed to, but also it's only a 33K mile truck.
