Question EcoBoost???

Hey all, I'm in the market for another used pickup, so I'd appreciate your feedback here.
I really want a SuperCrew with a 5.0, but they are not as plentiful as i would hope. there are a lot of EcoBoost out there, but I'm a little leery of the turbos living here in Florida.

So all you EcoBoost owners out there, let me hear your honest feedback, praise or horror stories about your little turbos please.

I’ve had 2 3.5’s and 1 2.7 and only issue I’ve had was a leaking oil pan on my 2017…no issues at all otherwise

Love my 2.7 EB. Nothing negative to say about it.

Same. Love mine. My scab will scoot and it's fun. I don't need no dang 8 cylinders.

I’m in Orlando and have the 2.7. No issues with my truck as far as drivability here in Florida. In fact all 3 of our vehicles are turbocharged. It may suffer from a little bit of heat soak towing heavy loads in the summer but that could be remedied with a large intercooler. Daily driving normally and not beating on it generating a lot of boost all the time won’t have any negative impact on how they run with the stock intercooler. My Audi S5 is tuned and I have zero issues with and I don’t exactly baby it when I drive it. Hard to stay out of the throttle in it 😁

My 2011 was a 3.5 EB. My current 2019 is a 5.0. The 3.5 was more fun to drive. The 5.0 sounds better and gets better mpg.

After towing an enclosed trailer through the Canadian rockies with my Mustang and wedding stuff on board.. I wish I had the ecoboost over my 5.0.

Not a problem you have in Florida, but I love the Ecoboost at altitude. At my home, 7000 ft above sea level, the 5.0 (and any NA engine) is down 20%, and most of the routes to the north and east go higher.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Does anybody have over 100,000 miles on their EB? I tend to hang on to my trucks and I worry about the longevity of these turbo motors. Still miss my '95 scab with the straight six and 5 speed...

Youd need to search, but there’s a thread in the 15-20 section with a 2015 2.7 EB that had over 400k miles on the original engine and transmission.
