The best I can tell you is to go to the junkyard and find a truck with the same engine and transmission that your truck has. 5.8 can be '92-'95 unless California truck then '92-'94. 5.0 can be '92-'93 only. 4.9 can be '92-'95 unless California truck then '92-'94. The truck must have the same transmission as yours.

My 1996 F150 has the 5.8 and is the original engine to the truck. I know there were more 5.0's in the 1996 trucks, but there were some 5.8's too.

That is just the list of computers that will work for his 1992 truck. He didn't say the engine size.

Then get a computer from a 4.9 E4OD junkyard truck from '92-'95. If you get it from a '95 that truck can't be a California truck or the computer will be different.

Mine is a 96 5.8 and when I ordered my new PCM from advanced auto, they asked for the calibration number if I remember right and thats all they needed. The number was on a sticker on the drivers side door frame.

Did it actually catch fire or just quit? Either way, it sounds like you have a bad short somewhere that is killing the computer. If it only quit and doesn't smell fried then you may have a power or ground issue.
