Default Driver side grab handle

I'm glad to see the grab handle on the driver side of the F150s back for the 2015s. I wish my '13 had one since I'm a whoppin' 5'6". I have no problem getting in using my steering wheel, but would have rather had a grab handle instead. Not really complaining...but glad to see them back .

Topic has been discussed ad nauseum SEVERAL times before.

Conjecture was to wait for 2015 parts to become available and see if a retro' fit would be possible for the 2009-2014 F-150s.

If it makes you that sick...why bother to even respond? By the way...it's ADD...not AD. Unless you were talking about an ad for nauseum....what ever that is.

I did a search on the forum "driver side grab handle". Nothing came up on the search.

On the '14 there's an air bag in there so it would be tough to add a handle.

There's an air bag there for ALL models 2009 thru 2014. Just like there's an air bag in the RH (passenger) A-pillar.

For those concerned about explosive bolts, jettisoned objects, and front, side air-curtain deployment ...

When the A-pillar air-curtain deploys it kicks-out the trim at the top and pushes past it leaving the trim/moulding still attached to the A-pillar.

There are 2 clips of different construct that retain the trim/moulding ...
  1. [*]
When the air-curtain deploys ...
  1. it's expansion pushes past the top of the trim/moulding though may(?) cause it to be slightly out and away from the A-pillar.
  2. the air-curtain extends rearward along the side glass until fully deployed and then deflates.
  3. the lower portion of the trim/moulding remains attached (somewhat) to the A-pillar, however, may be askew at the top
When I installed an A-pillar gauge pod with a scan guage, I left ~12" of wire within the trim/moulding+pod -and- its connection to the guage is a plug and is not bolted/screwed to any post(s). THINKING: Even if the trim/moulding+pod is TOTALLY pushed-out, it has 12" before the guage could separate from the pod, and even then it's a tight/snug 2-1/16" fit.

REMEMBER ...
  • The RH (passenger) A-pillar trim/moulding (with hand grip) is bolted to the A-pillar, has a side-curtain airbag, AND is standard on all.
    .
  • +(plus) the F-250's/SuperDuty's have LH and RH grab handles as well as the same side-curtain airbag deployment system.

Ahhh....thanks depami. That would make perfect sense then.

I was a part of the discussion on a thread several months back about our trucks not having one....but couldn't find anything in the search about the '15s having it now.

From the pics and videos I've seen of the '15s...the A pillar inside trim does look somewhat different. Looks to be squared off a little more, but it might just be the angle I was seeing it.

I was watching some videos of the new '15 Silverado High Country last night to see how it compared to the new F150 and noticed that it does not have the driver door grab handle. All three of other doors do, but not the driver door. Might be for the same reason with the air bag. I do have to say though...IMO the Chevys just don't hold a candle to the Fords in looks, style, etc.

Ad nauseam is a Latin term for a discussion that has continued so long that it has continued "to [the point of] nausea". For example, the sentence "This topic has been discussed ad nauseam" signifies that the topic in question has been discussed extensively, and that those involved in the discussion have grown tired of it.
I did a search on the forum "driver side grab handle". Nothing came up on the search.
Since you posted-in General F150 Discussion though noted "my '13" (2013 assumed) a search of this forum (and in general), wouldn't be pertinent because the issue is germane to Late Model F150s > 2009 - Present Ford F150
» Late Model F150s > 2009 - Present Ford F150
