The chrome part of the handle would have come off without disassembling and no tools. I did mine last summer with 2 coats black & 3 clear,

It's all personal taste, but chrome dazzles. When I see sport or other chromeless trims, I just shake my head. Especially at the same price point.

sad part is todays chrome, is really chromed plastic...

Now get a 1980's F150, those were bumpers...

I did this on my 16 scab and a buddies 19 screw & super duty. You pull door handle towards you but not to open door, pry upward & downward with fingers on the right side of handle on the corner of chrome or painted part, there is one tab on upper & lower. Once they clear it will slide off black part of handle. There are videos on Youtube showing how to do up to 21s. Super easy and hope this helps someone.
