Default Door handle from chrome to matte black

Hello all

New to the site. Just wanted to share with everyone a video I made not the removal and reinstallation of the exterior door handles. I really like the look and the overall process was simple. Here is the video.

Love the video, I wonder how well a paint designed to be peeled off will hold up to being handled. I would think doing a light "sand" with steel wool, then using a mat black epoxy would last longer.

Next you need to do the running boards ... that would finish the look, which I love.

That's basically Rustoleum's version of Plasti dip, and there's absolutely no need, nor do you want to sand or roughen up anything before applying. The beauty of these peelable spray coatings is that you can apply, and if you later want to remove, it peels right off and you're back to stock. You can change colors or revert to original with little effort. If you scuff it, you might as well use regular paint at that point because the option to return to original is gone. This stuff will hold up to pressure washing and can last for years. My son had an old '92 Ranger that needed a front bumper replacement. The original front and rear were black, but I found a new front chrome for about $50. I Plasti dipped it black, right over the chrome, and it held up for two years without any issue, until we sold the truck.

Note, the key to making it "easily" peelable is to ensure you get a thick coat on the item. You want to lay down several coats to ensure you have a nice heavy coat. If you have a thin covering, it will be a pain to peel.

Google Fonzie Plasti Dip if you want to see some pretty serious projects.

Learn something every day.

I wonder, can those chrome covers be added to a truck like mine with black handles ... I like my black look, just curious.

You might find some on ebay. I know I bought covers off ebay, and a buddy at a body shop shot then and some other stuff.
