Does it come off?
No, I don't own it yet. It is not just this one, just about every old truck has the same issue. It could be from anything, skin oils, sunscreen, dirt, etc. My point is, it seems like it's stained and does not come off. Like it worked itself into the vinyl?
The vinyl is molded with a leather-like texture, which collects skin oil & dirt. It takes some time with soap, water, & a fine-bristle brush to get it clean, but it WILL come out. Just like the shifter handle, headlight ****, cruise buttons...
Do you get in the shower with your clothes on? Do you drive through the car wash with the windows down & doors open? Do you put pots full of food into the dishwasher?
Even if you really want to wash the wiring & switches, and NOT get the backside of each part clean (inside the door is dirtier than what you can see), washing isn't the main reason for taking the panels off - DRYING is. Or do you like breathing mold, mildew, & fungus? But while it's apart, you'll find a LOT MORE to wash than if you leave it assembled.IDK why you think the water coming out of a hose has different properties than the water you put on your rag, but no; water doesn't take color out of molded plastic. Not even at high pressure. The only color it'll take out is some of the dirt stains.
I've hosed down all of this truck:

...and most of the other vehicles I've owned. Never lost any factory color from the plastic.

The fact that you asked tends to hint that you didn't get the obvious reason. So if you think I should take your hints, then you can't think I wasn't being a wise @$$. But since you say you DID get it; why do you need more reason than the obvious one?
And you didn't say in your first post that you were "buying door panels"; you said that you...That would tend to hint that you haven't bought them. When I haven't bought replacement parts, I don't usually take the originals off my vehicles. So that would NOT tend to hint to me that you had removed anything.
BTW
New direct-replacement door panels are not available. Panels that are vaguely similar ARE available for ~$650ea+sh, but they're far from identical. Is your truck worth spending $1400 just on door panels? I recently bought a whole truck for less. With decent door panels.

The reason I asked about sunscreen is because it is notorious for staining leather and vinyl, and has its own cleaning methods.
