difficult to close tailgate after installing line-x
Hello all, I am new to the site. I have been reading on here for the past 2 years that I have owned my 2010 F150 FX4. I have googled and searched the forum for an answer. I have found a similar problem on youtube with no real solution.
I had line-x put in my truck today from a line-x dealer. It looks wonderful, as I just removed the factory installed plastic liner.
They removed my tailgate, and sprayed the edge of the bed liner and the bottom of the tailgate. The tailgate will shut with force, however, it will not latch if it is close to shut and I try to push it closed.
I have noticed that some line-x has gotten in the latch area, which many threads say just to clean out which I did.
I have opened and closed it 100 times to try and figure what could be the problem. From what I see, it is one of two things. I think first the line-x may be a little thick at the point where the bed liner ends and the tailgate shuts. Maybe putting pressure on the tailgate when closing.
The second spot that I notice is on the latch part where the door latches onto. Just above the latch, there is a rubber bushing. There is one on each side of the bed liner. From what I have read, these are to prevent the door from rattling when shut. I wonder if I need to shave a little off of these now that I have the extra line-x in between.
anyways im looking forward to suggestions, I would like to get this resolved. I am confident that the tailgate was put back properly I just know that it will be something simple causing the extra pressure up top when closing.
thanks everyone, I hope to get to know you now that I am a member

All of the bedlined trucks I've been in are the same way. The liner will add enough thickness that it's harder to shut than factory. Not impossible to shut, it just takes more force than before. I would trim down the rubber bushing first, and if that doesn't work, you can lightly sand the bedliner around the edges where it is hitting first.
Or, since it was just done, take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix it for you.

If it were me I wouldn't do anything to the line-X without taking it to them. You can try shaving the bump stops since that doesn't have anything to physically do with the line-X...maybe I tend to get paranoid, but I don't like to mess with a product when it has a lifetime warranty...you hear stories of people being told their warranty was voided because they screwed with it. Take advantage of the lifetime warranty and take it back to the place that sprayed it for you and show them the difficulties you're having closing your tailgate. Just my .02.
