Default Cruise Control Problem

My Cruise Control on my 2008 F-150 FX4 works most of the time but sometimes it just does not work for whatever reason. This can be very frustrating....does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Thanks for your help!!

Greg

Are you a two-footed driver??

I had an elderly lady neighbor who got a new car and complained about the cruise control. I saw her driving in the housing area one time and the brake lights were on while she was driving down the street - i.e., she rode the brake with her left foot.

When I told her she was not only wearing out her brakes, but that the cruise control disengages when the brakes are put on, she understood why she couldn't get her cruise control to stay on.

Probably not your problem, but it could be something to do with the brake pedal switch.

I am not a two foot driver but its a good place to start looking, at the brakes that is. I was also kind of thinking it could be a short in the wires...?

I had an issue like this on my '03 VW and it turned out to be some kind of switch/relay in the dash that caused the cruise control to not turn on.
