Default Convert Key to Push Button Start - 2024XL

Hello, I just took delivery of a 2024 F150Xl and was surprised to learn it required a key instead of a push button to start. I have the OBDLink and the FORScan software to add the trailer brake controller.

I'm wondering if anyone used the same link and software to convert from a key start to a push button start. Any help, guidance or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phil.

You're surprised an XL still used a key? You didn't order a Lariat my friend.

On the previous gen its not a simple FORSCAN change and button install. Not sure on these newer ones but probably the same thing. Color me impressed if it's as simple as installing the button and enabling it in FORSCAN.

artsr2002 - Surprised - Yes. It's the first Ford I've ever bought. So I'm new to Ford. When you click 'Regular Cab' on the Ford Build and Price site the only trim level option is XL. But I still thought it all new vehicles were push button start at this point. Live and learn.

I think it's XLT and up on F150.

Yeah, that’s probably going to involve gutting a model with PBS and transplanting into your truck. Then, probably flashing a bunch of modules to handshake with your truck.

Definitely not a “swap a couple of parts” operation.

Just a quick search led me to this. It's not easy peasy. Lol.

Im surprised you’re surprised an XL doesn’t have a push button start.

XL is closer to being a hand-crank start like the model T's than having a push button start!

I would just buy an aftermarket remote start system with alarm and other features.

No, I just bought a 2024 XLT and it requires a key. I have to jam the keys into the ignition to get either one to go in, so I wish I had push button start!
