I built a pretty shallow long rectangular box for my previous truck, a Nissan Frontier King Cab that fit under the rear seats with dual 10" shallow Rockford Fosgate subs on a Prime 500x1 amp. It sounds really good. I went ahead the put the box under my rear seats in my 2018 F150 Supercab and it works for me. The box sticks out about 4 inches beyond the front edge of the rear seats so it limits the foot space of rear seat occupants but not really an issue since I hardly ever have passengers back there. Since the F150 is bit a wider. I actually have room to make the box a bit wider if I wanted to but its fine the way it is now.

I may instead build a console-like box that hugs the back of the center console later on down the road. I will stick with the subs/amp that I have since I am very happy with those.

Fits into the same volume as the factory sony amp and subwoofer setup. Seat operation unimpeded. Dual Dayton 6.5" subwoofers in a vented enclosure of .423 cubic feet and tuned at 36hz. Adds a very surprising depth of low end and can handle 200 watts of RMS input. Most people way overestimate how much subwoofer they need. When they hear the system they are very surprised at these little jewels.

100% inaccurate and flat out wrong.

I've also in my research and taking with my audiophile friends, found having 2 smaller subs is better than one big sub. You're able to get more depth when you don't have one sub trying to do all the work. So 2 10s can and usually will sound better than say 1 15". With that being said, I didn't have room in my truck for 2 but I am still plenty happy with my lonely 10" lol

Again I know videos aren't the same as in person but I'm happy to make one for ya.

I hadn't even considered anything smaller than an 8". I assume that is a custom built box too right?

Yes, I made it using high quality 1/2" birch ply - glued all edges for strength and sealing and used a minimal 3 screws per edge to hold everything secure. The port is 2.5" schedule 40 pvc secured with a brace inside the enclosure. The front and back of the enclosure are also braced internally to avoid any resonance issues.

With basic skills and even a skill saw, you can make an enclosure like this in your garage easily.

I followed a similar path as far as size, going with the 6-3/4 Kicker loaded box with a passive radiator. Sounds like a bigger sub to be honest, and I am gonna add a second one on the passenger side when I relocate the jack to a swing case in the bed.

So 2 is most definitely better than 1. I sourced a great little Skar Audio monobloc amp from a member here, so now I’m running 380w @ 2ohms into a pair of those little 4 ohm Kicker 6~3/4 Comp RT boxes.

Holy crap! These things pound! The rear view mirror jumps much more than it did with just the one box. Very punchy, and keeps up with the JBLs in the doors all the way up to 22 on the volume **** now, where before the bass output kinda leveled off at 18-19.

I’m dubious about how they’d hold up long term to music with tons of super low stuff, like rap or EDM, but for basic drums and bass rock music, they are great. Easy fit for the second one where the jack was, seats lock up fully.

That's pretty much what I'm looking for. Just some more low end so that when I go to components up front it will all mesh really well.
I've had this kit for almost 5 years. If you get a good deal go for it, think I paid 3-400 with dsp and kicker speakers.

If the oem head unit allowed for more adjustability I'd probaby like it better. For my next rig I'll be having something more tunable and a little more oomph. With most rap you can feal it but it's lacking for rock

Thank you all for the ideas so far. It looks like there are far more options out there than I anticipated initially.

Default Does a standard ford radio have RCA output jacks?

I got a 2018 F150 XLT SCAB with what I believe is the standard ford radio. I looked at this and it says it needs your radio to have RCA output jacks. Can anyone tell me if the standard ford radios have RCA jacks? And if so how hard is it to access them? I assume some dash disassembly would be needed? Thanks
