Default Clunk while shifting to 4Hi

Anyone else get a clunk when shifting into 4hi? this doesnt happen all the time and at varying speeds?
This is my first F150, have an 2013 FX4. I have had other 4x4 vehicles and I have never had that sound when shifting.

Thanks for chiming in!

I have 2012, and it does the same thing. The last 4x4 I had with an electric shifter was a 1990 Land cruiser, which also had electric hubs. The shift was not noticeable, but perhaps it operated on a clutch rather than moving gears.

I've had two Dodge diesels, 1993 and 1996, neither had that issue but they were manual shifts, so it cannot be compared.

I have the same problem and when I shift out of 4hi to 2wd the back wheels drag.
Told the dealer 2 twice but they can't seem to find the problem.

Perfectly normal for our trucks. I personally shift into 4x4 while coasting (if/when possible) instead of while under throttle. Heard somewhere here that it's easier on the moving parts.

i get this too, i'am just trying to get in a habit of letting off the pedal when shifting..not a full release on the pedal. just lower rpm to the travel speed.. seems to be working as its been awhile since i've had it clunk in..

OP , same here on my 13 FX4. I stay off the throttle (coast as mentioned above) and sometimes that helps. Normal sound for these trucks.

I tested this noise a lot over this winter. When turning or under load (accelerating) the clunk in more present. Even when under breaking I tried it and the clunk was there sometimes.

In all I have learned as others to shift while coasting and not under load.
