Clear Coat on Rims

Clear Coat on Rims
I have a 1992 F150 and the clear coat has dulled and starting to peel off of my chrome rims.
The chrome underneath is beautiful, so I am hoping that there is a way to remove the remainder of clear coat without messing up the chrome underneath. There are alot of nooks and crannys that make up the wheel so I am guessing some type of blasting is the answer.
And then, would it make sense to try to reapply clear coat or go without it.
Suggestions?

Have a Solstice that has a couple of dings in the clear on the chrome wheels. Other owners have claimed the process to have someone strip and re-clear is almost as expensive as buying new wheels! As for a DIY process, I'm not familiar with one. Though I would be interested in any options you may come across.

Here's a YouTube video that shows the repair and refinishing process.
If you remove the clear cote, the wheels will oxidize and be a pain to keep looking good.

The job of clearing the rims can be done, but I would not suggest doing it outside where there is debris in the air. Dust, dirt and other crap will get into the clear and look awful. Have a very light hand, less product per coat and more coats is better than the opposite.
I have a guy that sublets for me that will reclear the rims for about $75/per--look brand new. Check around for a wheel repair specialist. (they are out there)
Hydrodipping the rims is really cool, but can be expensive. You can transfer any pattern onto the rims.
Good luck!
