claybar?
I clayed my truck about a month ago and it is well worth the time investment. I spent a total of 8 hours washing, claying, polishing, waxing and detailing my truck that day. The way to tell if your truck needs claying is to wash it then rub your hand over the paint, if it doesn't glide easily over the paint then it needs claying. After you clay it then rub your hand along it and you'll be simply amazed at the difference.
Missed a step. wash, clay, wash again and then wax
I just bought one the other day. Make sure you cut the bar in half in case you drop it, if you do don't use it again. The bar is small and get slippery while you use it.

Hey guys, The picture link in the beginning of the post is awesome. Its obvious that the reflection in the paint is due to a HIGH$$$$ paint job, lots of sanding, lots of polishing,
A clay bar will NOT do this for your paint. A clay bar just removes contaminents, as so many of you have explained. Clay is a great way to prep your paint for a good wax. But you have to know how to use it and you have to use GOOD clay.
I personally use MALCO clay. They have 2 different grades, One for Heavy Duty, and One for light duty. It is the best I have used to date. I've tried mothers, but it just doesn't last like Malco.
You just have to make sure to WAX immediately after using the clay bar. Since the clay removes contaminents and wax.

I dont have a link to the products since they dont really have a website. I have a local dealer here who sells all kinds of detailing supplies. Malco is about the best there is that I've found so far. I've never doubted a single on e of their products. Some of their stuff is a little pricey but its definitely worth it.
The clay bars are about 20 bucks a piece but they are pretty big bars. about 3"x4" bars 1" thick .
I'll see if I can find some more info for ya.

It doesnt come with a lubricant. But the best lubricant for clay is some soap and water. I always use a spray bottle with a soapy mixure in it. Works great and cleans up good too. instead of using a spray detailer that will build up if you dont clean it right away. But dont use too much soap. I use just a little.
