Default Chev Ads

I'm not sure about other parts of the country. But here in Maine, every other ad that comes on the TV is a Chevy ad selling cars or bashing the aluminum F150. I don't know if Chevy sales just suck and the company is on the brink of collapse or a NEW ad team has come on board and is dumping millions into sales ads instead of product design and advancements.
Anyway...its as bad as the political ads here.

Apparently they're also cutting some 1300 people starting in March I believe.

It seems as if Chevrolet spent years trying to find one thing where the Silverado did better than the F-150. All they came up with was that bed test. That really is it--the F-150 is safer and outperforms the Silverado/Sierra.

I am a huge Chevrolet fan but their current product sucks. Their sales are down despite those commercials. The F-150 is simply a better truck.

Chevrolet needs to beef up their safety, primarily the overlap front. They need to increase the hp and torque (which may be unlikely with government regulations). Finally, they need to fix the crap issues like vibration. If Chevrolet would do that, then I would trade my F-150 in tomorrow.

I bought a 2014 Cherokee with the problematic ZF 9-speed transmission. My 2015 Vette has been in the shop over 40 days with A8 transmission problems. Both are great vehicles when they run right. I hope my 2017 F150 is more reliable.

Chevy has been running those 'attack ads' for at least a year in Minnesota.

I was a die hard Chevy fan before Ford started beating their pants off in the technology department.

And then the Government Motors bailout went down. Ford won my business and didn't try to send their manufacturing all to Mexico.

As long as Ford keeps making good decisions and a good US made product, they'll have my business.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that but it was also a factor. Many Silverados are manufactured in Mexico now.

They all will be in time. It's pretty short sighted of them to trash it honestly.

Same here up in Canada.

However, I do believe it's going to come back to bite them in the butt when their aluminum pickups come out in 2018-ish: http://www.autoblog.com/2015/08/05/g...ucks-aluminum/

GM is just desperate to not look like they're lagging behind in the industry and are running a negative campaign since they don't have anything currently to counter it.

Aluminum doesn't have to be better or worse, The problem is it's perceived as new and that's a problem for anyone not selling it themselves: they look old and behind the technology of the day.

Ford took a big gamble going to market first with an all aluminum body. It turned out to be a marketing smash and Gm doesn't realize very time they run one of those ads they're giving Ford free press and actually drawing attention to who's "ahead" and who's "behind". Chrysler is playing it smart and just staying out of the fight IMHO.

But despite being a marketing coup, Ford's not out of the woods yet. I bought an Al 2016 myself, but it they turn out to have issues with durability or corrosion it could be one huge problem for Ford.

GM is also talking about mixing aluminum and steel in their version. Someone should tell them about galvanic corrosion and what happens if you get it wrong. I know I wouldn't be buying a GM truck with mixed composition body panels until they had proven themselves for a good 5-10 years to not have galvanic issues. Especially on the salt soaked roads of Canada.

I can already imagine what the Ford ads are going to sound like when GM releases a mainly aluminum body....life is a circle GM boys, it all comes around eventually.
