I have a cb in my truck. Had in all my trucks. I built a make shift stand on the hump. Dont want to hack the truck up for a cb.
There is a lot of "skip" with the solar cycle. Channel 19 has the needle basically pegged. Throughout the 40 channels you'll hear a lot of talking and you'll hear guys talking from different states. Local contact is difficult unless you're within a mile or two of the person you want to talk to.
My radio has sideband and on ch 38 lsb (lower side band) I heard but didnt make contact with a person from England yesterday. Most people coming in were from Texas and the southern states. (Im in PA)
The plug you see is for the GPS. The radio is hard wired to the battery.

I have a 2013 FX4 and followed install instructions on another thread. Really easy to put in. I used positaps to wire the power into the back of the accessory power plug (access was easy by removing the glove box). Biggest thing is reading up on tuning your antenna with an SWR meter so you dont fry your CB radio. I find it really useful for knowing what is going on with traffic jams etc.
