Default Catalytic Converter

I've got a 2002 4.6L V8 and my passenger CAT is bad. What is a good brand CAT to buy? i'm looking for a direct fit cat, i've found some by eastern catalytic, catco and magnaflow on discountcatalyticconvertes.com anyone know anything about those manufacturers or the website?

Me too, but my F150 is the 2002 supercrew FX. I'm told being a supercrew and the FX makes the converter a little bit different from my mechanic. Factory Catalytic converters are $1000. My mechanic said he found an aftermarket one he probably could use with some modifications and run around $500. Anyone have a good bolt on aftermarket that would not need modifications to put it on? I've spend big money on the truck already this year (Front end, shocks) and don't have any to spare. Truck light is on from it rattling and gas milage has been affected.

Hopefully my bump will help us both.

Thanks, I'll have to look into NAPA. I'd rather not hollow them out, although I'm tempted.

With simple tools, can a person change these themselves? Or it is likely you'll run into issues and need to heat/cut things?

I did mine if you have access to a impact its a lot easier but yes you should be able to you'll need some extentions metric and ratchet.

Default Got it done

Heys guys I ended up buying a magnaflow direct fit cat from oriely auto it was like 225.00. installing it was a hassle there are a lot of hard to reach bolts and i had to remove the drivetrain/transmission support from the frame to replace, plus the pipes weren't quite the right size, they fit but i had to bang them together with a rubber mallet. So its possible to change it for $250 plus the cost of getting pissed off.
