I’ve been thinking of buying one for my truck. Mostly curious what it has on it.

If you go on Carfax, and do a search from there, they will give you free reports on the vehicles that come up. At least it did for me the other day.

Why waste your money. Car Fax will tell you absolutely nothing as to how the truck was maintained and service and repairs done or mods made to factory components. Better to put that money toward having a good mechanic go over it, including putting it up on a lift - then you can determine is it has been in an accident or needs new brakes or rotors or has a u-joint about to go or failing wheel bearing or muffler in need of replacement, none of which a Car Fax report will do.

Probably because its one step in many he can take, before he leaves home. While CF and the one Carmax uses are not 100% accurate, they can possibly give you some information that will turn you away.

For instance, was looking at a car for my daughter. Car Fax showed it was a lemon law buy back, 2 times. So I did not need to leave home to decide I did not want that car.

trust me I go over everything with a fine toothed comb. But most body shops and dealers report. If it was in a flood or major accident there is a good chance it will show up.
Its a 10 hour drive to get it. It would suck to drive 10 hours back without it because I found something a Carfax would show.
I’m not sure I’ll spend $40 on my own but I know there are people that keep a subscription and are nice enough to run a quick check.
