Defrost also recirculates. Plus u could always use the heater with A/C max turned on

Never has in any vehicle I've had. I usually use floor and defrost at the same time. I can push the button but it turns off after 5 minutes

Regular A/C your compressor is fully engaged and creating drag on the engine, cools only outside air which is why it takes way longer to cool, plus less fuel economy.

In max A/C cabin air is re-circulated, clutch kicks on and off as it does not take as much compressor energy to cool the recirculated cool cabin air, better fuel economy

At least that what i remember reading back in the day.

MAX AC doesn't change the way the compressor works, the temperature and humidity is what will effect whether the clutch stays engaged all the time or cycles.

The fan blows a little harder and it recirculates, that's it.

When MAX A/C is selected:

the air inlet door closes, preventing outside air and allows only recirculated air.
the RECIRC button is disabled and the indicator is illuminated (RECIRC forced on).
the mode doors direct airflow to the instrument panel A/C registers.
the A/C request button is illuminated and is disabled.
the A/C compressor operates if the outside temperature is above approximately 0°C (32°F).
the blower motor is on.

Maybe I'm still missing something, but if MAX A/C is the ideal way to use your air conditioning, then why aren't vehicles just made that way by default?? Why is there even a choice of "regular/normal" and MAX?

That's kind of a "licks to the center of a tootsie pop" question. The world may never know...

I always use MAX AC. There's a lootttt of farms where I live and you never know what days they spread manure. Gotta have it recirculating.
