Brake pad installed backwards on front... pics of what happens
I bought a 2013 F-150 earlier this year and they told me... "New brakes and rotors on the front!" as one of the selling points. Between here and there they've squeeled, tons of brake dust , made noise and as of last week there was grinding.
So I ordered new rotors and pads and jumped into it yesterday to see what was going on. I knew immediately once I exposed the pads.. the inner pad with mouse ears had been put on the outside. The inside pad was barely worn and the outside pad was down to metal. The passenger side was fine as the pads were installed correctly.
See the mouse ears... on the outside. Grooves in rotor from metal to metal contact.
Outer pad down to metal... inside pad barely worn.
Outer pade removed... down to metal!
So I removed the rotor, cleaned everything up and put new rotors/pads on. I'm sure things will be much improved now and that wheel had crazy amounts of brake dust on it that I had to clean all the time.
Finished product... pads properly installed and after pad/rotor bed in.
(I tried to put this in the brakes forum, but I guess I don't have enought posts/permissions)

Wow - I put mine in backwards on the driver side as well - thankfully I didn't get far down the road before I could smell it and feel the brake loss. Switched them around with only a little gouging on one of the pads.

That don't look like they were new when you bought it... rotor is severely corroded.. nice fix.
