So looking to get myself a new daily driver and after some good research and Fordtechmakuloco videos I've decided to stay far away from ecoboosts and 10 speeds and will not get anything unless it's 5.0 6 speed automatic so just looking for feedback on what year has the least problem and most reliability? Instead of being rash and quick to buy I've decided to hold out till I can find my ideal truck, that being a Screw FX4 with black leather and black, grey or blue exterior.

I'll vote for 17. Bought new, now has 83k trouble free miles.

17 here also, bought new, no issues so far..

i would say 2014-17 for sure, my 2014 and 2016 didn't give me a lick of trouble powertrain wise

 

15-17. Has the 6 speed, isn’t known to drink oil and gets you into an aluminum body.

I have personal experience with the 6r80 and aluminum body. Not the 5.0. From all the posts on here, you don’t see many complaining about the 15-17. It’s all 18+ that drink lots of oil. That’s not to set the all do, but they’re the only ones you see mention of.

 

From everything I gather thus far I'll be on the hunt for a 2015, FX4 5.0 6 speed with 3.73 gears, 6.5 box and black leather interior/black exterior is a MUST so this will be an interesting search lol

 

Don’t leave out 16-17 if you find the color and combo you want. 15-17 will all generally be the same. The changes came in 18.

If you find the truck you want in cloth, you can always upgrade to leather.
