Best Portable Air Compressor?
What would you recommend? I don't need one to regularly air-up after airing down off road, just needed to top off low tires (33" max for now) on trucks/trailers and the occasional roadside tire plug and complete refill.
My old Viair 200H just died (150 PSI, 30% duty cycle). Looking for something similar. The is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, but I'm being cheap - Anything comparable that you like that doesn't cost $250? Especially b/c I'm wanting to put one in both trucks.

If you have any battery powered tools, you should look into if your brand has a tire inflator just to try it out. I really like my cheap Worx one. It gets moved vehicle to vehicle with a plug kit, couple batteries, and charger. No problem filling the 80lb trailer tires or topping anything. I know DeWalt has one that has both tire inflator and high volume low pressure inflator for things like air mattresses and lake toys. Friend has one of those and loves it.
I’d get one that uses the same batteries as your tools. Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc.
I use this one since I have dewalt:

If you are willing to modify a little, this thing is an absolute monster
By modify I mean you add a real hose fitting and can optionally add a pressure shutoff switch to it. I have one, and with a 4 tire inflation kit, I was able to fill my four 315/70R17 from 9 psi to 35 psi in 7 minutes flat.
Otherwise, I would agree that the battery powered compressors work pretty well. I have the ridgid 18V compressor and use it all the time for smaller jobs. Not sure on the other brands but the Ridgid comes with a cable to allow you to also plug it into a 12V outlet in case you dont carry the battery with you.
