Default Best cheapest programmer

Hey guys, I'm new here. I have an 06 FX4 5.4L. I'm looking to maybe get a programmer but I don't know anything about them. I will be purchasing a k&n intake today or tomorrow. And maybe a flowmaster or magnaflow muffler (what's your opinions on both) this week. So what programmer would be the best for me for the cheapest price? Thanks!

Edge Evolution. Don't get the CS or CTS though, more expensive and no HP gains. Don't get the CAI kit either, waste of money the stock CAI is fine. Search Gotts mod and you'll be good to go!

Edit: Exhaust no comment because that comes down to preference.

"Best" and "cheapest" rarely go together. Look through the countless threads and you'll see most people are running SCT, Edge or Gryphon. There is a sticky in the Aftermarket Products, Reviews and Installation section. https://www.f150forum.com/f7/tuner-programmers-9161/
That should get you started.

No becuz if it isn't pulling the air from the fender well like the stock intake is then it's not Cold Air, just pulling hot engine air. If you really want to upgrade your air intake do the Gotts mod with a drop in K&N filter or a Ram Air Hood.

Yeah just make sure he turned his truck back to stock or you won't be able to use it on your truck.

What are the major benefits of adding the edge evolution? I'm new and am about to buy one.

Not a bad price as long as its unlocked. I just paid $242 shipped for one on ebay a few weeks ago.

Ive only been using it for a week so its hard to tell the benefits from it right now (only one tank of gas so far) but I do notice it has a bit more response off the line and shifts differently (like having a shift kit).

It's a tuner so you can adjust for larger tires or different gears to correct your speedo and you can adjust engine parameters such as what RPM it shifts at when at WOT and how much fuel it dumps in at WOT so you don't lean it out. You can also adjust timing for higher octane fuels. Then it's also a monitoring system where as most tuners are plug in to load the tune and throw it in the glove box. The Edge is always up and useful, monitoring up to 4 parameters such as tranny temp, air intake temp, MAF, MAFV, Gear and torque converter slippage and much more.
