Accident,
Big Betha lap dance,
air guitaring & air drumming,
bad temper pounding on the steering wheel,
panic stops with hands on the upper wheel all likely suspects..

I gotta say this bent steering wheel is a first.
If it got bent, there's a good chance it can be straightened back again.

Probably if its made out of 100% pure plastic.

Never cut a steering wheel in half but if they have an inner metal center core ring for added strength it would be worth a try.
Gonna take my pin pointer metal detector out to my F150 and see if its got a metal center core.

Whats there to lose but a steering wheel.
But before the jury rigged bending, i'd have a returnable replacement wheel handy just in case. lol

Or the the top bent half could be cut and removed just like an airplane steering wheel.
Think how much easier the gauges could be seen.

That would be a great way to spend a Saturday, but why bother. A used wheel is $60-$80 on ebay (from wrecked trucks), and a new one is $200. I just checked.

Ok a follow up.
I checked the steering wheel on my XLT with my pin pointer metal detector and it indeed has an internally embedded metal core all around which doesn't surprise me.
That makes it even more feasible to re-bend it back into shape.
But re-bending would have to be done carefully with custom made fixtures and there's the risk of deforming the plastic outer core.
Myself if this were my deal, i'd go the route of buying another steering wheel.

Because of that internal metal core probably steel, there must of been one hell of a force to bend that wheel like that.

I think OP is long gone but bending it would probably work fine. I can flex my steering wheel pretty easily with just my hands(This thread prompted me to try), I can see how stiff-arm driving at the 12 o'clock position and using it occasionally to resettle yourself in your seat could cause it over time. I still stand by it being a great excuse to upgrade the steering wheel, the padded wheel is a lot nicer to use.

If you bend your steering wheel just driving, maybe you need to drink a little less coffee.
