Auto Start/Stop Not Working
First of all, I am new here to the forum and a new truck owner. I have a 2016 2.7 XLT that I completely love. About a week ago I started noticing that the auto start/stop function has not been working. I will come to a complete stop, and every time I'll see the auto start/stop icon be disengaged. My AC is turned off, the car is in regular driving mode, foot on the brake, temperature outside is usually around 80-85, transmission temp is usually around 199 degrees. This feature worked well when I first bought the truck a few months ago.
Tried going in to the service department today to see if it could be looked at, but looks like I'll have to make a trip down next Tuesday. Has anyone else had this problem?

My battery was bad after 1 year and 11k. It is now apparent that something is killing the battery. Unless your dealer knows anything about start/stop the symptom of the battery will be the only repair. The cause won't be fixed. Start/stop needs optimum voltage to function. Unless there is a programming issue, then I must have a charging system issue. I will keep you posted as I embark on this journey. I take mine in on 9-23-16 for a different repair (items broke when dealer installed brake controller last year). I will request they trouble shoot and not just tell me the engine has to meet certain conditions for start/stop to work. Let me know what they tell you.

There's a auto start status display on the economy display (or whichever display comes after Trip 2). Click down all the way to the bottom of that menu, you will see the option for the start stop feature. It will give you the reason for why it won't shut off when it usually would (vehicle charging, cooling/heating, etc). If you make too many small trips or don't drive very often, it'll spend lots of time in the vehicle charging status. Take it for a longer drive and see what happens.

I will see if I have that screen. I have not noticed it before. I have been driving the same way for 13,000 miles. First 11,000 it was flawless. This evening to my shock the start/stop worked 3 times in 6 miles. It hasn't worked in 2,000 miles driving the same path. Maybe it is back to normal I hope. I will see what happens tomorrow.
Viper Crazy it is a screen I have seen a lot. I only saw it say Engine On Normal Operation when I looked at it in past, but I wasn't driving. Start/Stop not functioning again, no AC or defroster. Message vehicle charging. Alternator should have system caught up by now. I have a more detailed account in a different thread ( found this thread later).
I've been thinking about this issue, and having some car audio experience, one procedure most car audio installers perform/recommend is called "The Big Three Upgrade." It's not necessarily an upgrade in my opinion, but I got to thinking, this might help with the Auto Start/Stop.
Essentially, the "upgrade" I was thinking of in particular was running a secondary charge wire direct from the charging terminal of the alternator directly to the positive battery terminal. The factory wiring should take care of this, but since I have not had time to look at the system myself, I can't say where the factory charging wire goes to, how big it is, etc.
If anyone is willing to try this, definitely use a larger gauge, fine strand wire. If you don't know how to do this, do not perform this upgrade or DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST.
