Default Auto Start-Stop Disabled but still trying to shut off

Hello friends. I was curious on something. I have a 2018 F150 and I loathed the Auto Start-Stop feature. What I loathed more was that I had to physically deactivate it after I turned the car on every time. So I Google searched, like any true American, and I came across the switch bypass jumper wire video. Did it and it worked great. It is still off to this day, but my question is this: Is it normal that the engine still tries to turn off when I stop? I don't know if I am missing something but I haven't seen anything anywhere else. Hopefully someone can assist. I went ahead and also bought a Forscan module and will try to deactivate it that way too.

If I am doing something off or about to do something wrong please let me know.

Nikos

What do you mean by "tries to turn off"? The engine either turns off or it doesn't. I used the forscan method in my 18, works great! I never have to push that button again.

I am saying when I stop at a light, it seems like the engine turns off but not fully and keeps running instead. As though it was in initial stages of stopping but decided not to. Did you ever have a vehicle that got started but then was struggling to stay on but then just turned off? That feel is what I am witnessing.

If you remove the jumper mod, does the problem go away when you manually turn off auto start/stop?

If the push button does not display "OFF", then maybe you don't have a solid connection on that jumper. ALso, when you first start up, do you get the messsage "Deactivated by Driver" in the information display between the spedo and tach?

I noticed this too some time back when clicking the button to disable the Auto Start/Stop feature. When disabled at times it felt like the truck was still going to shut down for about a couple of seconds but stayed running. After reading a few other topics I believe the one regarding Rumble in truck when stopping I am leaning towards its related to sloshing of the gas. It only happens when I have 3/4 to full tank and I come to a stop anything under that I did not feel the rumble.

I have not taken the jumper out. It seems to do it intermittently. But haven't had an issue for a few days now.

t's a solid connection. I made sure of that. The light is on stating that it i off, and also the screen lets me know when I start the truck that it has been deactivated by switch.

If the engine is still trying to stall out partially when you stop with that jumper installed, I wouldn't suggest to keep driving it like that just to be safe. We also offer custom tuning for most of the 2018 F-150s including the 2.7, 3.5, and even 3.5L Raptor that gives us the ability disable the auto start stop system along with some great performance improvements as well. Many customers also report back that they see better fuel mileage often times with our tunes , average customer's feedback of 1-2 MPG better than stock usually all depending on how they drive of course. The tune would be loaded using our Mycalibrator hand held tuning device which can hold up to 4 custom tunes along with a 5th stock tune for any time that you need to revert back to factory calibrations. We offer tunes with the start stop disabled when customers want it off for all 4 octane levels 87, 89, 91, and 93 in performance or towing specific versions.

Here is a link to our website for more information on our Mycalibrator custom tuning. Feel free to give us a shout if anyone as questions on our custom tuning or would like to place an order and we would be happy to help out.

Default Forscan method does not always work

I used the Forscan method, but we are on a road trip towing a travel trailer and when I stopped at the bottom of an off ramp, the auto stop triggered. It was very hard to get it running again. Then I drove a few hundred yards to some gas pumps and it did the same thing. I didn’t pay $50k+ for a vehicle that I can’t trust on the road.
