i recently had an episode with my 7.3.she started shifting extremely hard for a few minutes and i thought it was all over.i shut it down,got out and did a few laps around the the truck and wondered what this little issue was going to cost me.i limped home,scared to touch the peddal too hard,ripped out the fluid,filter ect.and prayed for mercy.its a 2000 truck with 185k and since that little deal the only problem i seem to notice is a slightly harder shift here and there.its been 6000 miles.anybody been there,and how long should this,or any tranny last when maintained,and driven decently???
