Default Aftermarket stereo system.

Hi,
Does anybody know if it's possible to put in a different stereo other than stock and still be able to use the buttons on the steering wheel on a 2004 ford f150 lariat ? Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes it is possible. Increasingly so on newer head units, but most all at this point should have either direct connect capability through a harness, or some sort of add-on adapter that allows use of steering wheel controls.

there is only one wire to connect to the steering wheel controls. some aftermarket radios have this wire already so you just connect them. others, mostly older models, require an adaptor like the pac swi-ps, etc.

Your BEST source for this is CRUTCHFIELD.

The folks there are very informed and have all the dash kits, wiring harnesses, and speaker adapters you could need.

I've been modifying my own cars for years with their help.
