Default Advice Needed......

I bought another F150 LOL!!!! I bought a 97 F150 with the Off Road Package. It has 248,000 miles on it. I took it to work today, and had a full vehicle inspection. All it needs is a tune up. Well the tech who did said he wouldnt take the truck on a long trip, cause of the miles. The lady I bought it from worked for a hospice, and the miles are all highway miles. The only reason she got rid of it cause she bought a bigger(Sweet F350) for her growing family. If she didnt have to get rid of it she would still be driving it everyday. I was wanting to hear any stories people have about thier high mileage F150's. It drives great. It has a 5.4 in it. So any input would be great. Thanks.

personally if the thing starts, runs good and isnt missing id drive it were i wanted to. Trust you gut instincts...they will never lie to you... seriously. I had a mazda b2300 with a 2.3 liter ford engine in it and had 237K miles onit... but sold it and the guy know has 250,xxx miles on it and it is still going .... but i took really good care of it... changed oil regularly etc... k and n filter and the such.... good luck and drive it like it were stolen... or somewhat near it...lol

I am with CrazyKarl, drive it like you stole it. I have seen many of these trucks with over 300k on them. I had an old 94 f150 that had 320k when I quit working there. I know for a fact that they drove it for at least two more years. I say if it runs good and you are comfortable with it, run down the road.

It misses a little. I am doing a huge tune up on it, but it drives great.

These engines will last you a long time as long as you keep up with all the maintenance. I am driving an 85' f150 with the orignal 302 in it. I have over 460k miles now. It starts up everytime still!

I did have a 1985 Volvo 760 Turbo sedan that had 337k on it when I bought it. I put in a new fuel computer and front struts and rear shocks and drove that thing until it had 379k and then sold it. This was about 2 years ago and I hear that it is still running well. My freind is the neighbor of the guy who bought it.

I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. After all, with that kind of mileage on it (I'm not sure how much you paid for it), it really doesn't owe anyone anything anymore. As long as it feels good, go for it. It will warn you before it ****s the bed.

We have a 2000 XLT with 180,000 on it. We take long trips every year with it (1300 miles one way) and it like sitting on a couch the whole way. As long as you keep up with the maintenance you should be ok. I'm expecting to get 500,000 from mine with no problems.

That just struck me as funny. How many miles is 300,000km. I'm to lazy to do the math. everyone here is right. As long as it runs well and you feel safe in it, I'd drive the wheels off the thing. Best of luck and many happy MILES to you. Sorry!
