Default Advice on buying older truck

I知 looking to buy an older truck that will only be driven on a regular basis for the next five months (assume 400-ish miles per month going to and from school on country roads). I知 considering a 08 f-150 xlt super crew 5.4L V8 SOHC 24V FFV with 200k for $5k. I have not purchased a truck in the past and would appreciate advice on what to watch for and concerns you would have with this engine?

do some research, tons of info here and elsewhere on the pitfalls of this engine. Find fordtechmakeuloco on YouTube and watch his videos.

If you don't tow or need the extra power, get the 4.6L it's way more reliable thatn the 5.4.

This is from a 5.4L owner.

Look closely for significant rust damage.

As suggested by others, look for the 4.6. I love my 5.4 3v, it's my second one and I love it. But for a commuter vehicle, why not look for even a smaller ranger Mazda or other v6. Even the older v6 isn't too bad if just going to school and back.

Good luck on your search.

That 5k will most likely

Finally got mine washed, guess i should have cleaned the windows in my house.
buy you a huge headache
