Default Is '86 5.0 EFI the same as '87-'90s (engine components interchangeable)??

I've been looking at lots of aftermarket engine parts to buy for my '86 F150 5.0 EFI and noticed that most everything I see is listed to fit years starting at '87 and I rarely ever see anything that starts at '86. For example: Edelbrock Performer 5.0 EFI Truck Intake Manifold is listed everywhere to fit on 87-up F150 5.0 EFI trucks. I'm pretty sure '86 and '87 5.0 EFI pickup engines are setup exactly the same but I'm not sure enough to spend close to $800 without doing some homework first. I know '86 was the first year for EFI in Ford pickups so I thought maybe there wasn't a real big number of EFIs made for the first year and that '87 was maybe the official year so that's why most parts are listed for years starting at '87 ??? So my question is are the parts for '86 all the same as parts for '87 and so on up to around '94-'95 ???

No. Long story short, Ford made a bunch of changes to the engines in those years, including changing the EFI system from speed density to MAF (mass air flow).

The speed density systems in those years are why people talk about retrofitting them with Carbs......unlike modern EFI systems they suck.
